NASCAR CUP SERIES: A REDEMPTION VICTORY FOR SVG AT WATKINS GLEN!
Last year, Shane Van Gisbergen was so close to a victory at The Glen. However, he clipped the wall, allowing Chris Buescher to pass him for the win. This time, SVG gets sweet redemption a year later, winning at Watkins Glen International by over 11-seconds.
For SVG, it’s his fourth win of the year as a Cup Series rookie. No other rookie has ever won four races in their rookie year. However, all of his career wins are on either a road or street course.
This is also the fourth consecutive road course win for the No. 88.

————————————————————–
For the second year in a row, Connor Zilisch won the pole and the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Watkins Glen.
This is win number six on the season for the No. 88 and the seventh of his year old career.
Unfortunately, as Zilisch climbed out of the car, he slipped on his window net and fell very hard to the ground! He was speaking with medical personnel as they loaded him onto a backboard to transport him to the medical center.
About four hours later, Zilisch was released from the hospital with only a broken collarbone. A lucky escape for the young driver who could’ve hit his head.
Last weekend’s winner at Iowa Speedway, Sam Mayer was Saturday’s runner-up with Sammy Smith, Austin Hill, Carson Kvapil, Justin Allgaier, Austin Green, Christian Eckes, Brandon Jones and Harrison Burton finishing in the top ten.Â

Although his truck was running on fumes, Corey Heim somehow held off Daniel Hemric on the final lap to win the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Watkins Glen, his fourth consecutive victory on a road course.
This is the 17th career Craftsman Truck Series win for Heim and his sixth of the year.
Hemric had multiple opportunities to move the No. 11 on the last lap, but he just didn’t pull the trigger. Hemric finished second, regretting his choices.
Gio Ruggiero, Christopher Bell, Tyler Ankrum, Sammy Smith, Ty Majeski, Connor Zilisch, Matt Mills, and Layne Riggs completed the top ten.
