LAST LAP INSIDER RACING RECAP – NASCAR, F1 AND INDYCAR:
AUSTIN CINDRIC GRABS THE TALLADEGA VICTORY IN PHOTO FINISH!
📸: Ford Performance – Austin Cindric.
With a little drafting tow from a couple of lapped cars in front of the leaders, Austin Cindric was able to slightly pull ahead of Ryan Preece to the checkered flag for the victory at the Talladega Superspeedway!
For Cindric, this is his first trophy of the season and his third career win overall.
Cindric is also the tenth different winner in the last ten races at Talladega.
Kyle Larson finished third with William Byron and Joey Logano, placing fourth and fifth in a race that did not have a caution in the final stage. This race also never witnessed the big one!
After post race inspection, second-place finisher Ryan Preece and fifth-place finisher Joey Logano were disqualified. Preece had too many spoiler shims, and Logano was missing a spoiler bolt. Both drivers will receive zero points as a result.

In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Connor Zilisch was leading on the final lap when he was accidentally spun by Jesse Love. The No. 88 of Zilisch smashed the inside wall, leading to NASCAR throwing the yellow flag. At the time of the caution, Austin Hill, Jeb Burton, and Jesse Love were three wide for the win. By a couple of inches, the No. 21 of Hill was pronounced as the victor!
For Hill, it’s his first checkered flag at Talladega, but his ninth win on a drafting track. That’s a record in the Xfinity Series.
Burton had to settle for a disappointing second with Love in third.
Justin Allgaier, Matt DiBenedetto, Anthony Alfredo, Harrison Burton, Blaine Perkins, Sheldon Creed, and Daniel Dye completed the top ten.
Thankfully, Zilisch was released from the Infield Car Center without any injuries.
